Limestone Slab Fill is a 1/4" is a fine limestone chip with a lighter amount of limestone fines than our 3/8" Slab Fill. The smaller stone size creates a smooth, workable surface while the reduced fines allow for better drainage and less moisture retention.

It still compacts well, but does not tighten up quite as densely as traditional 3/8" Slab Fill. This makes it an excellent choice when you want a stable bedding material with improved drainage. It works especially well for pavers, stepping stones, patios, walkways, landscape edging, and other bedding applications where a smooth, consistent base is important.

While it does not drain as freely as a clean rock, 1/4" Slab Fill provides noticeably better drainage than 3/8" Slab Fill while remaining easy to grade, level, and compact.

1" Black Slate Chip is a sharp, clean decorative rock mined from the historic Chili Bar Slate area near Placerville, California. This dark gray to black slate has a naturally flat, fractured shape that lays beautifully in small rock areas, walkways, borders, dry creek beds, modern landscape beds, and low-maintenance decorative placements.

Because slate breaks into flatter pieces than rounded rock, it creates a clean layered look with excellent coverage and a refined natural texture. Chili Bar slate has roots in California Gold Country history. The Chili Bar area was named for Chilean miners who worked along the South Fork of the American River during the early placer-mining years.
